The pheromone-based moth mating disruption products, Exosex SP tab and Exosex CL tab have a new owner. International Pheromone Systems, better known as IPS, has acquired outright the Exosex Technology from Exosect Ltd for an undisclosed sum.
The change of ownership will not impact on supply of the product as Pest Trader will continue to be the exclusive European supply partner for the Exosex technology. Pest Trader has already been working closely with IPS to ensure a smooth transition of supply.
Graeme Hartley, managing director of IPS commented: “The acquisition of the Exosex technolgy is a perfect fit with our company development in the pest management market. Our production and development experience allied with the increasing market presence of the Pest Trader organisation will assure the future development of both Exosex SP and CL tab products”.
David Loughlin, owner of Pest Trader added: “We have been impressed by the positive attitude and clear expertise of Graeme and the IPS team. This has allowed us to share a new level of confidence that, over the years ahead, we will be able to continue to develop both products with our channel partners across Europe.”

David Loughlin, Pest TraderWhilst many readers may not have heard of IPS, the company has been around for over 30 years. It remains a family-run, UK- based business, located in Wallasey on the Wirral. The company specialises in the manufacture of pheromone traps, lures, and associated products under the Insectrac brand. The products are used to monitor and control insect pests in a wide range of settings, including agriculture, horticulture, forestry, storage facilities and in the home and garden. The company exhibited at PestEx for the first time this year and has ambitious plans to offer a full solution from monitoring systems to detect the pest, through to control products utilising pheromone technology.
As Graeme explains on the company’s website the latter would be: “…along the lines of a lure and kill system, that utilises a killing agent in a controlled environment where the pheromone is used to lure the insect. This ultimately is a perfect system, where you still use a pesticide, but under a controlled situation.”
As reported previously Pest Trader has recently become part of David Loughlin’s Sentomol business with Pest Trader’s founder, Rob Fryatt, taking a step back from the business.
