News from Plastdiversity – no flies here

Portuguese company, Plastdiversity, had on its stand at PestWorld the latest addition to its product range – the professional fruit fly monitoring trap and lure.

    Small and troublesome indoor flies

Although only small in size, fruit flies are annoying pests in areas where food is prepared and eaten. Although they do not bite their presence is often indicative of poor hygiene, rotting fruit or drainage problems.

The new Fruit Fly Trap from Plastdiversity is designed to capture both commonly found fruit flies – the common fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) and also the spotted winged fruit fly (Drosophila Suzukii).

These flies are found in commercial, residential and industrial premises such as bakeries, groceries, confectioneries, restaurants, domestic premises and similar locations.

The Fruit Fly monitor is designed to locate the source of a Drosophila infestation by assessing the count in each trap. The addition of the lure, supplied with the monitor, attracts the adult fruit flies and so provides a perfect tool for mapping infestation levels.

    with its own liquid lure

Traps are most effective when placed near breeding sites. The lure is made from a special combination of food grade attractants. The professional pack contains 20 traps and 20 bottles of lure.

The monitor can be placed behind or under bars, beverage centres, dishwashers, food displays, food preparation areas, and in other location where fruit is stored or prepared.

Not forgetting the extensive range of plastic bait stations
Maybe better known for its extensive range of moulded-plastic bait stations, the Plastdiversity professional range of bait stations now runs to around 20 different models including tunnel bait stations and novel approaches, such as the discreet rock bait station. A selection of these was also on display on the stand.

With over 20 years of expertise in plastics, Plastdiversity manufactures its pest control products alongside retail and garden and home plastic items at its site near Marinha das Ondas in Portugal. In June this year the company celebrated the opening of a new building, so adding another 5,400 square metres of factory and storage area to its site.
