Pest control companies wanted – two opportunities to star on TV

Two TV production companies are looking for pest control companies to feature in their programmes. The first isn’t particularly pest orientated – it”s more about running a family-owned business and the interactions between the characters. The second request takes a more familiar path and is looking for unusually severe infestations of inhabited dwellings.

    Family-run businesses sought
Nerd TV, a London-based production company produce documentaries and factual entertainment for major US and UK broadcasters. They are currently developing a documentary series for Discovery Quest and are looking for successful family businesses that work in traditionally ‘masculine industries (such as pest control) that are full of larger-than-life characters. They are featuring family businesses because the dynamics within them are very interesting – the workers are not just colleagues, they are loved ones, which brings with it great interactions and funny, warm stories.

At this point the series is in development, so there is no need to worry about committing to anything! The development researcher is just looking to establish contact, talk to family pest controllers, get to know them and then take it from there.

This is a really good opportunity for pest control companies to feature in a positive, business-like light – rather than the stereotypical ‘rat catcher’ mode TV seems to love. A fee will be paid to those featured.

All those interested should contact Theo Chester to discover what is involved on email [email protected] or tel 0207 043 0080.

    Severe infestations wanted
The second opportunity comes from production company Darlow Smithson Productions which is planning to make a new series of programmes for the Animal Planet Channel and is in search of great stories to tell as part of this docu-drama programme.

They are looking for homes with any unusually severe infestations of spiders, mice, rats, bats, ants, cockroaches, bed bugs etc. They cover stories of home infestation that have already happened, interviewing those that went through the infestation to bring their tale to life in a drama, meaning the infestation itself could have taken place up to a few years ago.
