It was announced today (2 January 2013) that the brand assets and business of Pest-Stop, owned by Procter Brothers of Garforth have been acquired by P+L Systems of Knaresborough.

    Proctor Pest-Stop

The Pest-Stop brand covers a range of pest control products sold through a wide range of distributor customers, ranging from on-line retailers to agricultural merchants. The range includes the Little Nipper mouse trap product which is one of the longest standing brand names in the UK market.

This acquisition comes as no surprise in the Pest editorial office. Having visited the P+L Systems” facilities and management in August 2012 it was clear this company, backed by private equity investors, was after further expansion via company acquisition. Commenting on the acquisition, Peter Mangion, managing director of P+L Systems, said: “We are delighted to be adding the Pest-Stop brand to our ever increasing portfolio of brands in this sector. Pest-Stop has enjoyed strong growth in recent years through a combination of long-standing and traditional pest control products supported by the addition of innovative new products to the range. We are also pleased to be able to secure continuity of customer and supplier relationships through the transfer of key staff to our business, as well as the Pest-Stop brand itself.”

Jeremy Procter, managing director of Procter Brother, commented: “The production and supply of pest control products from Procter Brothers goes back more than 100 years, but now is the time to move on and we want to dedicate our focus to the business-to-business divisions we have within Procter such as machine guarding, security fencing and concrete products. I’m delighted that P+L Systems has been the successful buyer of Pest-Stop, as it was important to me that the right sort of business took over the reins and retained the brand’s ethos of ‘serious pest control products which work’ – and I know P+L Systems will do that.”

Andy Simmons, who continues his role managing the division, stated: “The sales team and I are really excited about the move, and feel it is a fantastic opportunity to further develop the Pest-Stop brand, with the support and resources P+L Systems will be able to offer. We are looking forward to offering customers the same great level of support they have come to expect from Pest-Stop.”

Both companies state that until the end of March it is business as usual. All orders and enquiries will be handled by the same Pest-Stop team in exactly the same way as before.
