As part of the Project SOE (Security in the Operational Environment) initiative which focuses on security issues within the agricultural environment, a pesticide amnesty is to be introduced.
In a bid to reduce, or ideally eliminate, stocks of redundant, illegal or out-of-date pesticide products from the stores of pest controllers, or on farm, this pesticide amnesty managed under the SOE banner has been put together.

The scheme will run from 3 January to 14 March 2011. It will make it possible to dispose of any unwanted, out-of-date or revoked biocides and pesticides, for a one off cost of £20 – no questions asked. This appears to be an excellent scheme and one pest controllers should not miss – should you have any illegal or out of date products tucked-away in your store. So what do you do? First go and have a look in your stores now. Check if any product you have is illegal or out-of-date. If unsure consult either of these two databases produced by the HSE.
Alternatively contact your regular pest control distributor who should be able to help. Project SOE will be available to pest controllers, gamekeepers, farmers and growers in England, Scotland and Wales. The scheme is being administered by Killgerm Chemicals.
