    World Pest Day, a multinational event created to raise the status of the pest management industry worldwide, take place tomorrow (Saturday, June 6).

    The inaugural World Pest Day ceremony was held at the Beijing Hotel on June 6, 2017.

    Three years on, the day is a firm fixture in the calendar. Businesses involved in pest control support the day to raise awareness of the threat of pests and explain how the industry is working to manage pests worldwide.

    Anthony OHare, BASF”s country sales manager, UK, said: “We need to promote the importance of pest control to every country and explain how the industry is continually working to develop new products to help fight pests.

    “The recent launch of our new rodenticide, Storm Ultra Secure, shows our commitment to the pest control industry and our desire to keep investing in research and development.”

    World Pest Day aims to:

    • Increase public, government, and media awareness of the important role pest management organisations play in protecting public health;
    • Promote the pest management sector;
    • Build awareness of professional pest management; and
    • Make the public aware of the threat pests pose to society.

    Mr OHare added: “There are approximately 122,000 employees in the BASF Group who work on contributing to produce and provide products in nearly all sectors to almost every country in the world.

    “Pest control is an important sector for BASF, and we are always working on developing and introducing new products to help pest controllers and the public with pest management,.”

    World Pest Day was initiated by the Chinese Pest Control Association, and co-sponsored by the Federation of Asian and Oceania Pest Managers’ Association, the National Pest Management Association, and the Confederation of European Pest Management Associations.
