    All change. Goodbye and hello!

With the year coming to an end, the industry has said farewell to some of its longest serving members. On the other hand, joining the industry is some ‘new blood’ keen to carry us all forward.

    Adios
Clocking-up what could easily be a record, Pat Marks, Killgerm’s area sales manager based in London, is retiring after in excess of 40 years in the industry. Age 76, Pat is almost a ‘national institution’ with the London local authorities. Just think of all the changes he will have witnessed throughout his career.

Although not totally retiring, after 23 years looking after his loyal customers, Nottingham-based David Lovell is switching his energies to become the special projects manager for Killgerm’s new Lamp Compactor.

With only a year’s less time in the industry at 22 years, Clive Evers from Bayer Environmental Science is moving to start a new career. Like many within the manufacturing side of our business, Clive has worked for a succession of companies, yet has never actually left and rejoined any – such is the way with company mergers and acquisitions. With his brother he is moving to near Poitiers in southern France where they are taking on the restoration and management of a hotel and restaurant. On his departure Clive said he had had one of the best jobs in the world but was now going to concentrate on his new endeavours and spend more time with his grandchildren.

With a mere nine years in the industry, Will Golland (some-what well known as something of a party animal) has left Bell Laboratories to take-up the role as national sales manager for Rutland Electric Fencing based at Oakham in Rutland – very convenient as its only a few miles from Will’s home.

    Hello
New to the industry is Mark Long who has joined rodenticide and insecticide manufacturer, PelGar International at Alton as their new UK account manager. Before, Mark worked for the Ford Motor company and for the last three years for Langmead Farms, based in West Sussex – one of the largest producers and suppliers of high quality prepared salads and fruit to leading UK supermarkets.

Taking over the reins in the field for Killgerm is John Stacey who becomes their new area sales manager for the northern Home Counties and East Anglia. John was previously involved within sales in the paint industry, but it’s sure not to be long before he is fully up to speed on his pests. Looking after their customers in the East Midlands comes Dan Gaskin who certainly does know his pests, having spent the last two and a half years working within his family’s pest control business – Acclaim Pest & Environmental Services in Market Harborough. On his appointment Dan said: “Having used the products I’m now responsible for, it’s an excellent opportunity to be able to support the industry and raise the level of professionalism.”
