BPCA considers joining the Kickstart job scheme as an intermediary

The British Pest Control Association is looking for members to register their interest in being involved in the Kickstart job scheme.

BPCA said it is considering becoming an intermediary for the Government’s Kickstart scheme, which provides funding to employers to create new six-month job placements for young people who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

The scheme is open to 16-24 year olds, where you employ the young person for six months at no cost (with wages, National Insurance and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions 100% covered by Government).

The BPCA pointed out that these roles have to be new roles, not replacing someone who has had their hours reduced or made redundant.

The BPCA said: “This is a great opportunity for pest management businesses and a chance for young people to gain paid work experience.

“This is a UK-wide scheme and members can engage directly with the Department of Work & Pensions if they wish. But if BPCA get 30+ commitments to look at using the scheme, we would work with interested members to build training and development plans and manage the project on their behalf.”
