    The British Pest Control Association will kick off 2021 with “a science lesson that’ll actually help you be a better pest controller”.

    If you’re a biology and an animal psychology geek, BPCA said this is for you.

    Taking place on Thursday, January 21, between 10am and 4pm, Fundamentals of Pest Biology and Behaviours is a one-day training course that will provide an overview of the knowledge required to understand how pest biology and behaviours impact on the development of sustainable control strategies.

    The course will use a mix of presentation and interactive sessions and will include modules on:

    • Rodent biology for key species;
    • Insect biology for key classifications;
    • Pest behaviours;
    • Pest drivers and pressures; and
    • Integrated Pest Management Strategies and control techniques.

    The course will be delivered as an online classroom training course using the Zoom platform. As in a classroom environment, candidates will be encouraged to engage in discussions, share experiences and ask questions. There will be regular breaks throughout the day including lunch.

    To take part in the session you will need:

    • Computer, laptop or tablet; and
    • Internet connection.

    BPCA said that slides from the training will not be available, so please ensure that you have pens and paper to enable you to take your own notes.

    Upon completion of this course, you will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Fundamentals of Pest Biology and Behaviours.

    The course is open to all, but BPCA said you’d probably get the most out of this course if you already have your Level 2 Award in Pest Management.
