The bright and sunny weather matched the warm and enthusiastic welcome the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) gave to all its delegates and exhibitors at PestWorld 2010. This annual event was held at the Hawaii Convention Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA between 20 – 23 October 2010.
Emine Saner, a journalist with The Guardian, obviously took time to research her story in much greater depth than the Red Top papers.

For her article she has interviewed Dr Stephen Battersby, president of CIEH, who feels the giant rat was most likely a coypu. He also dispels the myth that there is one rat for every person in the UK. Also interviewed is Richard Moseley from BPCA who highlights some of the problems caused by rats and the likely affects of revisions to EU legislation. Finally, Prof Robert Smith, recently retired from Huddersfield University and also a member of the Advisory Committee on Pesticides (ACP) – as well as a Pest technical advisory board member – explains the significance of anticoagulant rodenticides and the establishment of resistance.
