On 14-15 April, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sponsored a National Bed Bug Summit, with support from the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and the Association of Structural Pest Control Regulatory Officials.

These three groups got together as they recognised the importance of bringing together those who could engage in constructive dialogue about what needs to be done by various stakeholders to get control of the USA’s growing bedbug crisis.

In fact the summit, held in Washington DC, proved so popular the venue had to be changed to accommodate all those who wished to attend.

There have been numerous press reports of the event on both sides of the Atlantic. Perhaps the most relevant for the pest industry was posted by Pest Control Technology – click here to view. Reports also appeared on the BBC News site – click here.

In the US, EPA has now posted a summary of information from the National Bed Bug Summit. To view the summary of information, click here.

    This summary includes the following:

    • The final agenda
    • A public docket
    • Recording of the Webinar from April 14 (link to be available on 21 April)
    • Summary of workgroup results
