The National Pest Technicians Association is to invest in a health and safety management system for its members as part of their membership fee.

The decision follows a survey the association conducted across its membership, which resulted in 96% of respondents recognising that the system could add significant value to their businesses.

Kevin Lawrenson, NPTA chief executive, said: “70% of members thought that this would add significant value, and 26% thought that it would add significant value, but wanted a bit more information.”

Mr Lawrenson said that he will engage with the company he’s been talking to see if it can make the finances work.

“It will give the members a platform to be able to manage the health and safety element within their business, by having van checks and PPE checks all automated from the system,” he added.

“There will be an area for COSHH assessments, risk assessments and method statements. There will also be things like e-learning videos on there as well that they can issue to their employees.”

Mr Lawrenson said that the platform would be able host training from Grahame Turner, NPTA’s technical manager.

“We might be able to record Grahame’s training courses and stick those on there,” Mr Lawrenson said.

“If you can’t join Grahame when he’s delivering it live, you might be able to watch it retrospectively, and, at the end, you can record the fact that you’ve watched it and accumulate the CPD points, which you can share with your CPD provider.”
