Pest control business PestFix has been awarded a £108 million government contract to supply the National Health Service with personal protective equipment (PPE).

PestFix was awarded the large contract in April when the Government was under increasing pressure to meet the demand for PPE.

Dan England, a director of PestFix, said: “PestFix is proud to be working closely with the Department of Health and Social Care to provide vital items of emergency COVID-19 medical PPE to front line NHS workers.

“Our small, dedicated global team, spanning three continents, has worked non-stop for the past 70 days to support efforts of getting PPE to the front line involving an ongoing and herculean logistics operation.”

“We continue to work in close partnership with the NHS, MOD Procurement and DHSC COVID-19 procurement teams, whom have all demonstrated incredible dedication in supporting PestFix to deliver this highly complex transaction.”

Health Secretary announced last Saturday a plan to make face coverings compulsory in hospitals for all staff, visitors and outpatients from June 15.

The contract runs for 12 months.

A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said: “We make no apologies for going above and beyond to protect staff and patients by sourcing PPE from a range of companies. As the public rightly expects, we are ensuring that our staff on the frontline are receiving the PPE they need.”
