Certis Europe has announced that agreement has been reached with the Killgerm Group for the sale of gassing agent, Talunex, (aluminium phosphide) and the associated Topex applicator equipment with effect from 9 January 2012.

In their statement released on 13 December, Certis UK marketing manager Robert Lidstone said: “We are pleased to have reached agreement with Killgerm. They are a long-standing customer and has the specialist knowledge in the professional pest control arena to continue to provide the necessary high level of stewardship demanded by a control treatment of this nature.”

He continues by saying: “In recent years, the Certis business has grown substantially in the arable and speciality crop protection markets. Following a strategic review of the business, it has been decided that professional pest control products will no longer be a high priority, and given the increasing demands of stewardship for products such as Talunex, it is the right thing to divest it to a specialist company in this sector.”

Jonathan Peck, managing director of Killgerm, commented: “This is an important investment for us, as Talunex has been a significant part of our portfolio for a number of years, so it is a strategic acquisition for us.” He added: “Stewardship requirements through the protocols agreed by RAMPS (Register of Accredited Metallic Phosphide Schemes) are increasing. Both Certis and Killgerm recognise that we are best placed to ensure that these are properly adhered to going forward.”

The statement closes by saying: Distribution arrangements will remain unaffected with product stewardship requirements being the driver of any future changes.
