Sales of Talunex to be reinstated

The market leading rabbit, rat and mole control agent Talunex (aluminium phosphide) has been reinstated into the market with sales resuming from 15 September 2009. This is good news, as it comes just in time for the main autumn usage period.

The news follows the product recall of Talunex (aluminium phosphide) in April this year – see Pest news. This recall was made as a precautionary measure in response to concerns surrounding the integrity of some batches of the Talunex pellets.

Following an investigation by marketing firm Certis into this issue, the problem was linked to a specific batch of Talunex pellets. However, Certis is confident that stock now available is of the highest quality. Changes in the manufacturing process include additional product stewardship and quality control procedures of individual flasks and pellets.

“We took the decision to make the product recall due to the highly toxic nature of the product,” comments Certis country manager Peter McDonald. “It was the only responsible course of action to take and we would like to thank our distributors and their customers for their support and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

He adds that product orders can be made for the autumn season with immediate effect but may not be delivered until after 15 September.

Any queries should be directed to your distributor or to Helen Ainsworth of Certis.
