Syngenta and the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA) have created an exciting new training initiative to develop the professional careers of young people starting out in the pest control industry.

Syngenta NPTA 5<25 Professional Futures offers free training programme for five NPTA members who employ someone under the age of 25 to the industry recognised RSPH Level 2 standard and set them on a path to a successful career.

In addition to the certified RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management training programme, offered through the authoritative Killgerm Training, participants in the Syngenta NPTA 5<25 Professional Futures programme will receive mentoring and practical advice from experienced industry leaders and direct access to the full NPTA business support team.

NPTA chief executive, Kevin Lawrenson, said: “The training and development for young people offered by Syngenta NPTA 5<25 Professional Futures is a key milestone in our vision is to elevate the profile of the pest control industry and an integral step in attracting the next generation of pest controllers into the industry.

“We are committed at the NPTA in raising the profile of the industry and the opportunities it provides people to carve out a career for themselves.”

Mr Lawrenson continued: “This initiative empowers our members to grow their businesses with the right tools, training, and support. It helps them uphold the highest standards of practice while thriving in a competitive landscape.”

Richard Moseley, Syngenta Professional Solutions business manager, added: “The pest control industry faces a significant threat in retaining bright young people to stay within the industry. The Syngenta NPTA 5<25 Professional Futures initiative provides a route to further develop young individuals within NPTA member’s businesses and offer them a positive incentive to build a lasting and lucrative career.

“We are pleased to sponsor this important initiative, as well as provide on-going support. Forging links between young people through the training will be important to engage them through their professional development, as well as creating a wealth of relatable experience and skills to share with new entrants to the industry into the future.”

Dr Matthew Davies, head of technical department at Killgerm Chemicals, added: “The idea behind Syngenta NPTA 5<25 Professional Futures is brilliant and absolutely something we want to be part of.

“Killgerm Training welcomes the opportunity to provide our leading RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management training, designed to provide a good grounding in pest control for anyone involved in the field. It has become the benchmark qualification in the industry.”

Participants will learn about the biology, behaviour, and control of a full range of public health pests, health and safety, legislation and customer care. This culminates in the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Level 2 Award in Pest Management examination, which, when completed successfully will result in the award of a professional qualification.
