“What is the future of training and CPD”

Debbie Wilson, owner of Wilson Pest Management and Training, says that training is not teaching you how to suck eggs, training is helping you to be the best you can be.

We all need to ask questions about our work at some point, we all have things we need to know about the scenarios we come across in our work, training can be just that, getting help with a question or something that happened in our daily work.

Training can help to elevate your service offering, learning about something different not only keeps us informed, but when put into practice, can also benefit us financially. So, when you think about training, don’t see it as a negative, see it as a positive way to increase your knowledge, revenue, and power.

CPD and training go hand in hand: to develop, we need to learn.

Some may say pest control isn’t a career, but why isn’t it? Where is the misconception that pest control is “only a job”. We are a professional industry, gone are the days of the “rat man/lady”.

Pest control is a very fluid industry with changes in legislation, products etc. By becoming a member of a CPD organisation and collecting our points, we are showing our customers (and all those who still think pest control is just about putting poison in boxes) that we are professionals and, therefore, we can not only enjoy the financial benefits that come with a professional body but also the respect that being a professional commands.
